It's a little big but I've also seen dragonflies that are bigger than the size of the picture... i think their sizes vary too much to expect it to be accurate.

'Always was told that the size of the monitor is from corner to far-off corner. This gave a much too large estimate of insect size in my case.
Our average in the N.West are 2.5" to 3" - at a memory guess.
